CNY week~
Written at Monday, January 30, 2012 | back to top

Hi ya people!
I'm finally back from my hectic CNY week!
Do you wanna know my schedule? It's kinda packed!
(except last Monday hehe)

Anyway, what I did for CNY.
Ate nice reunion dinner last Sunday, but I didn't take any shots of the food...
'Cos you know, they are those usual homemade cuisine of my mum XD
And kinda common for Chinese reunion dinners =P

Skip that, I played mahjong a lot.
Really, even the week before CNY I played with my family members...
(yeah I know, I have tests that week)
and you know what my dad said?
"Ah Yan, study have limits also, take some time off by playing mahjong!"
(LoL and he didn't know I studied last minute XD)

Back to the story, haha...., 1st day of CNY we stayed at home. Really.
While doing absolutely nothing.
Just stoning. 'Cos my brother went to Johor to fetch his GF and our 3rd uncle and his family.
(while my uncle & his family stayed over my house for 3 days consecutively...)
Left my parents and I. What I did is just hogging my mum's ipad,
and my dad watched TV, and my mum busy cooking and preparing ingredients for day 2,
'cos day 2 have to prepare new chicken and stuff XD

Day 2: Going back to my mum's hometown.
I woke up late, and had to eat my breakfast in speedo mode.
Whats bad is that I didn't have much time to eat my mum's mega breakfast,
I missed out to drink more of her "fatt choi" soup...
(which now ended up on my dogs' bowl)

owh, and I have to drive too. 'Cos my bro's MyVi filled with my uncle's family members + him and his GF that I have to fetch my parents in my Viva... And apparently Viva can't drive fast.
As in, if I drive too fast, then my car tyres will like, jerk a bit, which is dangerous.

So I drove like a snail on the highway back to Bidor.

But upon reaching there also... Nothing much to do.
Besides taking angpows, we went house hopping from 1 relative to another.
And we ended up spending hours in my 2nd uncle's house.
'Cos my brother playing mahjong versus my 3rd uncle and my 2nd aunt XD
(to those who don't know, under my mum's family tree, I have 10 aunts and 3 uncles)
at some point I went out walk walk with my closest cousins (5th aunt's daughters),
that my 3rd uncle's seat was occupied by my cousin brother (1st aunt 2nd son)

Okay, I know it's complicated, but that's life. =P

And then we went back home after dinner,
and I feel for people who drive on highway late night.
Freaking hard, mind you. That there are no streetlights...
And then those cars at the opposite side of the roads using flash lights...
My eyes will be blinded...
(or those fkers who turned their lights up driving behind me)

Day 3: home & visiting
Well, the plan for day 3 is to rest for day 4's drive, but we ended up driving that day itself.
At 1st is like, breakfast eat dim sum outside, then wait for my cousin brother (the same as above, 1st aunt 2nd son) to come and visit us with his GF and his dad a.k.a. my uncle.

But when they come and visit, we have a few rounds of mahjong (of course not me), among my brother, my cousin and my 3rd uncle.
Then we went up visiting my cousin brother's house in Kota Kemuning there.

It was kinda boring that I have to drive again, plus my brother and my cousin brother drive so fast and I can't even catch up (my car max speed stuff, and my dad nagging me beside me), well I have to tail them 'cos my cousin brother have to guide me in.
Anyhow it was kinda boring in his house... We went up watching Kung Fu Panda 2,
(which I didn't even watch the 1st movie in the series) and I ended up falling asleep in the middle of it.

Then we went for dinner somewhere, I don't know, I just tail their cars,
for some seafood dinner.
But for some reason that restaurant only have 2 chefs and there are tonnes of people to feed.
And we're not the first.

This is the 1st time I waited this long for dinner. We reached at 7pm, order and stuff,
and the food is served only at 8.30pm.
Really, why can't they just hire someone from outside?
Whats with them being so worried about their recipes being leaked out to 3rd party members and not kept within their family members? They almost starved me to death.
(Sorry didn't take pics cos was too hungry that I wolfed down the food)
But what were served: kam hiong la la, fish, fu yu yau mak, claypot toufu..

Day 4: Drive to Johor.
Not enough sleep, I slept kinda late last night, playing ipad again hahaha.
(seriously, Urban Crime is addictive, I enjoyed killing random people as a gangster in the game, including those police officers who wanted to handcuff my character)
I drove sleepily. Though kinda dangerous but was wide awake after singing along some songs.
This drive is difficult. Luckily it's not straight 3 hours drive, I can faint for doing that.

We drove to Yong Peng, Johor, which took 2 hours from KL.
and had a lunch break there.
My 3rd uncle treated us, being in his area and all, and YES, I did take pictures.
'Cos we ate in a rather fancy restaurant.
The type where you will attend wedding dinners.

They're not much, plus I took those pictures when I'm eating 1/2 way...

Cod fish... (direct translation from cantonese: ice fish)
SUPER fresh and nice to eat. Crispy on the outside, nice and fleshy on the inside.

Stir-fried pork with dried chilies. I think. I can't seem to remember...
But they're GOOD.

Toufu + brinjals.
Yummy!

We bade farewell to my uncle and his family after lunch and continued our journey to the southern area of Johor. (Seriously, I don't think I stayed in JB. I stayed near Sutera Mall, anyone know?)

We reached the hotel around 4pm. Wash up + unpacked our stuff, we walked around Sutera Mall. It's kinda like, 10 mins walk from our hotel.
And I have to buy a new pair of jeans there.
Why? 'Cos I didn't plan to wear any long pants. And to enter casino I have to wear long pants.
So we ended up scouting the mall and bought a Lee Cooper jeans. (I know, which is very expensive. But I like it. Haha. Anyhow that jeans is the most expensive 1 I've ever had.)

We drove to Singapore at 7pm+.
Reached Sentosa Resorts World around... 8pm?
Luckily, my brother's GF's cousin sister was a gold card holder,
so the parking there is free!

We walked around in the casino and ate dinner in Ruyi, the restaurant outside the casino,
and to be honest, it's not worth it. It's expensive and the noodles I ordered have fish which ain't fresh at all... And we looked like we're eating cup noodles. All 5 of us ate away SG$35.
Which we can eat decent dim sum meal in Malaysia with that amount of money.

After that my dad and brother gambled in the casino and win some cash.
I on the other hand lost some of my mum's SGD. 'Cos she thought I will have some beginner's luck, which failed miserably.

To cut the story short, we spent quite some time in the casino and ended up reaching our hotel at 1am.

(I forgot to mention they have some show upstairs outdoor near the fountains, here's a shot:)
Pretty lights! =)

Day 5: Universal Studio Day
Finally this day came, I was so excited that day that I even took some shots of myself (camwhoring) before going to Singapore. (which is my current Facebook profile pic)

After eating breakfast at Mui Hwa restaurant, which is some famous kopitiam in Johor,
we reached Singapore at 10.30am.
Even the queue to purchase tickets are long. Luckily my brother bought the tix online.

Upon entering, it looked as if I ventured into another world...

Want some pictures? Here they are.

Some oldies america theme:

*note: watched lights, camera, action, effect expert of movies magic, 4D effect also.
watched monster rock, where it's like a play where a guy resurrects many types of monster and they have a rock concert together... (LoL-ed)

Sci-fi corner:

*note: the place I went for the Transformer 3D ride! Here's a shot of the nice indoor queuing place:

Egyptian place:

*note: have the scariest indoor roller coaster ride here, called the revenge of the mummy. NEVER EVER RIDE THIS. Scare the shit out of me. It's not because of the theme. It's cos the ride is like a spiral staircase. It spins upwards and downwards so FAST it felt like I was jerking out of my seat. I was so scared I'm gonna fall. (My brother's face is green after riding this.)

Far Far Away:

*note: this is the enchanted place where they have dungeons and dragons. Nah just kidding, this is a medieval themed place. Watched Shrek 4D here. WILL GET WET watching this.

Some shots of the queuing place for Shrek 4D:

Lol, Facebook logo.

After that:
Jurassic Park:
A place of dinosaurs... Well, I didn't take any shots here. 'Cos I ended up queuing for 1 WHOLE HOUR for Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure. And the ride isn't that exciting. Only the last part is nice. Where we go down the waterfall and have water splashed on us. Not worth queuing.

Waterland:
watched a show of an island, some pirates conquering the good guys to find the location of dry land. Some explosive, actions, and a bunch of people who sat in front watching them, getting wet. (cos they purposely drove their jet ski to splash water at them)

It rained after that. At 1st we ran to the food court.
But it was full. So we ended up running back to the oldies USA town theme place and went to the pizza place.

Our lunch was late, almost 4pm. But this pizza place surprised me.
1st: the price. We ordered the family combo meal, which costs SG$56!
includes pizza, 2 soup of the day and 4 drinks.

Mushroom soup with croutons

Coke. Have USS logo on the paper cups XD

2nd: The size of the pizza. 1 slice of the pizza is bigger than both of my palms combined!

(I was full after only 1 slice. No kidding. Really big.)

After our late lunch, the rain stopped, and the nearly burger place, had a stage singing show.
3 Caucasians singing wearing oldies burger place costumes.

Pretty, aren't they? haha.

After that:
Madagascar:
nothing much, we rode "the crate adventure" and the ride is like... elementary.
It's just a slow lazy river ride indoor while having to risk getting wet by that hippo. and the zebra spraying water at us...

A shot of beautiful evening day viewing the castle in far far away.

We went to the casino after that, and my dad and my bro win more money.
(and ate in there too... SG$5 per order, SG$25 for 5 persons)

Day 6: Back to KL.
My thighs hurt. Walked too much last night.
Went to eat breakfast at the same kopitiam again, then walked around Sutera Mall to wait for lunch. And my dad bought a hamper for future visits~
Lunchtime with my bro's GF's family members. Awkward and weird.
All speak mandarin, I just shut up and listen.
And eat the teochew food served to us.
(Of course, I won't even think about taking pictures of the food. Kinda weird)
Sorry to disappoint you. Haha.

Drove 2 hours to Seremban to stop by my aunt's place. (My dad's sister)
My dad gave her the hamper and chatted for an hour. Her dog Lucky is lazy, and smelly. lol.
Finally going at 5.45pm.

Then accident after passed the turning to Bangi, road jam like hell.
Reach home at 7pm. Home sweet home. (Brother stayed in Johor for another day. And gamble another day, but until NOW, yes, now when I'm typing this, he's not back yet.)

Should I continue day 7, which is today?
Is this post long? I guess this is my longest post ever.

Day 7: Pai nian day~
Practically, this is a house hopping day.
Went to Yuen's house at 12pm and reach at 12.30pm, played some cards while waiting for those latecomers (FEEL GUILTY PLEASE.) played some mahjong, gamble abit, then go Kah Wai's house at 3pm.

Played rummy with them, while eating a variety of snacks~ I was addicted with homemade nga ku chips. Yum.

Reached my house at 4 something. Served them some snacks, and showed them the USS photos in my mum's iPad, which sadly I couldn't upload them here, 'cos my bro don't allow me to plug it in. Scared the PC virus will get into the iPad.

Reached Kok Peng's house around... 5 something I guess.
Tour his house (finally get to go his house) and eat a lot of never-eaten-before-snacks.
More variety than Kah Wai's place. Haha.

Reach home at 6 something. Rainy... Earned some angpows too today =D

Alright, I know you're tired reading this. Hehe. That's all from me.
Chiaoz people!
